Introduction

This is an ombudsite investigating the effects - both real and potential - of copyright and fair use laws in Canada as they apply to digital media. As much as we can, we will write about what can happen if certain laws are passed, or if certain media conglomerates win or lose a court case, or what does happen when American interests are put ahead of Canadian interests.

For better or for worse, we will try to present you, the unsuspecting public, with an accurate understanding of possibilities and ramifications regarding the current and future state of copyright and fair use laws in Canada.

Please use the comment system if you have any other questions or concerns or complaints about the material presented here. We can’t help or respond if we don’t hear, and we do take topic suggestions.

  1. It is important to protect your work, in this digital age. Copyrights are
    very important.

  2. That’s true, but there is a point where pre-emptive copyright enforcement becomes invasive and interferes with the purchaser’s rights, and that is what needs to be fought. DRM has passed that point, unfortunately.
